Welcome to Mindful Tasks
Brian and I have been working on Eko Wave for over 5 years, entirely in our free time, attempting to build something that is our main focus and not just a side project.
This has been a challenging process, not for lack of ideas, but for lack of consistent time and effort. Life simply gets in the way – jobs, kids, life changes, etc. During these delays we have battled other similar sites popping up, suddenly deprecated APIs, and much more. The world doesn't just sit still while we move slowly.
Since we've struggled with consistency and speed, we started looking into tools that could help us coordinate and plan. This led us to Notion, which in turn led us to YouTubers like Ali Abdaal, Marie Poulin, August Bradley, Khe Hy, and Tiago Forte that have made Notion into so much more. We got hooked.
Ali recently interviewed Austin Kleon, who is one of my favorite bloggers and creatives. In Austin's blog post about the interview, he said something perfect about blogging and building a community that caught our attention:
Again, it’s not about being credentialed or being an expert, it’s about seeing a space open up, starting to do work that needs doing, sharing your ideas, and sticking around long enough so people show up and you can interact with them in a meaningful way and build something lasting.
That got us thinking: what if we took a really deep dive into our process and problems, sharing what we learn along the way? So many people struggle with building a business and what better time than during a pandemic, when many people are doing just that?
So that's how Mindful Tasks came into existence. This blog will document our process as we learn and grow. As we build a system that's mindful and ultimately more reliable for all aspects of our lives. We will share the knowledge we gain, the system and tools we build, and all the bumps along the way.
Join us for the ride!
